Lady Spring's Renewal

Lady Spring's Renewal

She stands frozen,
encased in snow and ice.
Cast in darkness
and perpetual sleep,
she awaits the inevitable dawn,
when the warmth will return
with the rise of the new spring sun.
For then, the snow and ice
will mourn and weep,
slowly trickling away,
like the sands in an hourglass,
into riverbeds and lakes
which flow into the Earth's very core,
to feed the rise of springs coming blooms.

And when she awakens,
the sun will smile down upon the ground,
from its heavenly place among the clouds,
and buds will rise,
the Earth will breath,
and she will raise her glorious voice
to bring rebirth to the barren lands.
For she is the coming of Spring,
the renewal of life,
and the promise of hope eternal.
And for this alone,
we rejoice.

Author's Notes: I was driving along a road today, and I saw some of the first budding trees of the season bursting with color and life. Such beauty can only come when spring is awakening from its long perpetual sleep of winter. I was awe struck and humbled by its magnificence.
