Do you stand before the cheval glass,
gazing at what lays before you,
silent in word and still in deed,
as shame drenches your heart,
pain courses through your veins,
and anguish seethes within your spirit?
Does bitter bile rise at the mere thought
of what may be reflected back?
Is the aching, soul wracking torment
dipped in the icy breath of fear,
born from a dread of what might be shown,
if you open yourself to the world
and share the deeply hidden truth
buried so far down, it is barely recognized?
And in the very process of hiding your truth,
did you isolate yourself from all
who opened their hearts to you,
offered you solace and empathy,
and offered love unconditionally?
Such secrets eat away at the
very core of the spirit heart,
bringing bouts of depression,
attempts of suicide, and
uncontrollable anger toward
those closest to you, loved ones.
They isolate and seclude,
forcing you to shun the
very things needed to heal,
forcing you to stand alone
in an uncaring world
already riddled with the
great sorrows of others.
The answer lies in the
setting free of truth,
letting go, sharing,
opening the heart to love offered.
Speaking the words of truth,
which breed fear and seclusion,
to find solace in the warmth of the sun,
in order to know, you are not alone.
And so that one day,
you can look upon your
image in the cheval glass
and know beyond doubt,
that you are beautiful inside and out.
